The Recreational Division 4 Fall Season is about to begin and here is some basic information:
Opening Day is August 21st. Because the older players compete against teams outside of Sonoma, their games will begin a week or two later to allow time to coordinate the schedule with the other leagues. Picture Day will also be August 21st and your team's photo session will be scheduled around your first game time.
Schedules will be sent out mid-August to the coaches and they will inform their players of their schedule. It will also be posted on this website with a link on the home page. The season will run until the end of October for the younger ages and will go into the first week of November for the older age groups.
Uniform colors vary by age group so questions should be directed to the appropriate Age Group Coordinator for your child. You can find an email link to the Age Group Coordinators on the Directors page of this website.
Coaches are given rosters by mid July and players should receive a call by July 31st. Practices can begin by July 26th but many, especially in the younger age groups, start after August 1st. For other questions about registration issues please see the Registration page. |

This is a friendly reminder for all Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Managers, Trainers, and Parents on Traveling Teams:
- If you are transporting players, be sure you have their parent’s permission in advance, and that you have a valid CA driver’s license with current insurance.
- It is recommended you not share a hotel room with any player other than your own child. If for some reason you share lodging with other players, you’ll want to obtain a written permission note from any involved parent(s).

All players who register to play soccer with SVYSA will be assigned to a Division 4 a.k.a "Recreational" team, unless they purposely attend a try-out session, and qualify for one of the Division 1 or Division 3 a.k.a. "Select" (traveling, competitive) teams.
Recreational Players: Please see the article "After Your Child Is Registered" by clicking on the Registration tab above, for more information about Division 4 players.
Select Tryouts: There is no need to register in advance. Just show up with cleats, shin guards and water.
All players who wish to play more competitively than on a recreational team are encouraged to come and try out.
Typically 15 to 18 players are selected for a team (fewer with the younger teams), and these teams will represent Sonoma Valley traveling to many tournaments and "away" games during the course of their 9 month season. |
