The U-16 D1 Celtic team coached by Damian Johnston and Asst. Coaches Mike Linder and Matt LInder advanced to the semifinal round of the NorCal Regional Soccer Tournament on June 15th. Celtic played Livingston Deportivo whom they tied in an earlier round. The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of regular game time and went into overtime play in the semifinal round. Deportivo fouled a Celtic defensive player by shoving the Celtic defender into the Celtic goalie head to head. Both Celtic players were down and the defender was taken by ambulance to the nearby hospital where he was diagnosed with a concussion.

Play continued in the overtime but Celtic went down 4-1.  The Celtic players will meet Deportivo again on Deportivo home turf during regular league play.
